SUPPORT OUR SOCIETY: BECOME A MEMBER!
When you become a member of our Society the admittance to all our mills and to the Mill Museum is free! Moreover, four times a year you can receive our colourfull and interesting magazine "De Windbrief" if you like so. The Society of Zaan Mills was founded in 1925 with the purpose to prevent that the last of the more than 1,000 windmills ever built in the Zaan District would disappear. Its first success was the restoration of oil mill De Zoeker. Three years later, the Mill Museum was opened. Now, 84 years later, the Society possesses 12 picturesque industry mills and a unique mill museum. The mills are of importance as part of our cultural heritage and continue to determine the Zaan skyline up to this day. Thanks to the support of more than 3,600 members, of whom a large number are active volunteers, as well as the support and sponsorship from governments and the business community, our Society is able to keep its current portfolio in excellent shape and attractive to an extensive group of visitors from all over the world. Maintenance and restoration, education programmes and the spreading of the importance of mill history are forming the core of our activities. But we cannot execute this important work without your support, so, please become a member of our Society!
