Sinds 1935 stond er aan de Kalverringdijk, bijna recht tegenover de Zaandijkersluis, het restant van een molen. Dit behoorde aan de oliemolen De Bonte Hen of wel De Kip, die oorspronkelijk als houtzaagmolen werd gebouwd. De kans is groot dat hij in of vlak na 1693 werd gesloopt, want in dat jaar werd hij te koop aangeboden. Omdat er nadien niets meer vernomen wordt van een houtzaagmolen op die plek aan de Zaan en wel van een oliemolen, moet worden aangenomen dat de houtzaagmolen is gesloopt en vervangen door een oliemolen.
